Cambridge Open Studios

The City and Beyond

One of my favourite quotes is by Andy Warhol - “Don’t think about making art, just get it done.  Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.  While they are deciding, make even more art.”

So this is what I've been doing. Since my last Cambridge Open Studios in 2011 I have been busy exhibiting my landscape oil paintings, completing a year-long certificate of Advanced Printmaking at the Curwen Print Study Centre, challenging myself physically with a trek in the Sahara, and visiting some of my favourite cities in the world for inspiration. And of course, then returning to the studio to produce the work.

Since learning how to print with polymer plates, an exciting fine art original printing technique that I have fallen in love with, my head is full of new possibilities.  The start of my collection based on Cambridge City uses this technique and they will be on display at my Open Studios.  I also have a body of landscape oil paintings on wood and canvas too.  You will also find hand-pulled and printed greeting cards, including the launch of my new collection of boxed cards, etchings on perspex, unframed prints and a few original oils on paper in the browsers.

I will be opening my studio and gallery space at 59 Highworth Avenue, Cambridge CB4 2BQ from 11 until 6 pm on Saturdays 13/20 July and Sundays 14/21 July. Elderflower juice, coffee, teas and biscuits will be served.  I will also be around during the week in between the Open Studio weekends, so if you would like to come outside of these times then email or call or text me at 07765 563908.

I can now accept both credit and debit cards during the Open Studios exhibition.
