Cambridge Original Printmakers

Back in February 2013 I held an Auction of Promises raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. When collecting donated prints I had a conversation with two Printmaker friends about creating an exhibition in central Cambridge solely to showcase Printmakers and the enormous variety of techniques that encompasses them.

Both of these friends, who had not met each other previously properly had both independently had the idea before so this time we got together and decided to really make it happen.

Sue Jones, Anthony Hopkinson and myself then started meeting regularly devising plans, budgets, approaching venues and tentatively asking fellow Printmakers if they thought it was a good idea or if they thought we were barking mad.

In January 2014 nearly 100% of our invited Printmakers took their places - we didn't expect that all but that proved to us that we were doing the right thing. The three Print Houses where many of the exhibitors trained were also enthusiastic about launching a show together.

Now we are nearly there. It has been a mammoth task, but so worth it.

Doors open at the Pitt Building, opposite Fitzbillies at 10.30am until 5pm every day from Saturday 27 September until Saturday 4 October. On Sunday 5 October we are open from 10.30am but doors will close at 1pm.  We are holding a Private Preview on Friday 26th September for invited guests - we are limited on numbers to the Preview but if you would like to come then please contact me by email.

For all the information you need please go to the Cambridge Original Printmakers website.
